When we visit cities, sometimes we forget to see and understand their most intimate part. We focus too much on seeing monuments and we don't realize that, in order to know a city, you have to live it. This tour will take you straight into the heart of the city. Instead of ticking from a list of touristic monuments, we will get lost in its streets and sneak into its courtyards. Observing some houses and their secrets. Listening to the stories that made Cádiz look like the way it does today. Also, we will know which was the architectural trend in Cádiz and Andalusia during the XVII, XVIII & XIX Centuries plus the aim and uses for them. Architecture styles which are reflected on the other side of the Ocean. Visiting the places where locals are, nowadays, living in will give you the opportunity to get closer to the real city, our culture and the idiosyncrasy of Cádiz. This is a unique tour in the city, a good opportunity to walk though streets you would probably wound't walk on your own.
Starting from the flamenco quarter, we will be able to understand the purpose of the streets in our city. This quarter is still preserving some of the streets existing in the XVI Century. This will help us to understand the structure and pace of the citizens back then. Further, this quarter also preserves some of the baroque house which were not renovated in Neoclassical style. Something very common at the end of XVIII Century and beginning of the XIX. After that, we will get into the city centre to have a look at the incredible neoclassical palaces. We will finish our itinerary visiting one of the oldest quarters in Cádiz, were the majority of the citizens were living during the XVIII Century. With this tour, we will have a good idea of the difference between the way of living of wealthy Merchants, the bourgeoisie and the commoners. Contact me for customization.
