I was 11 years old on June of 1991, when an announcement in front of Parliament was made: "This evening dreams are allowed, tomorrow is a new day".
One country ceased to exist, as we knew it until then and a new country was born. I was more or less unaware of the situation, but I can remember worried faces of my family, especially the one of my grandmother.
After 10 day war, my hometown became capital of newly formed state Slovenia and in those 30 years, it has transformed from political, cultural, economical and educational centre of Slovenes, also into popular tourist destination.

When I first went to the Postojna cave myself with my friends I found it amazing and it was my first big cave in my life and I was amazed to saw a toy train inside.

I personally think that if you are coming to Slovenia you must add this cave tour to your bucket list since this place looks absolutely amazing and it's really big and riding on a truly unique toy train, and to feel the wind on your face as the train moves, and to feel the smell of the cave is so interesting, feels like taking you back in the time.
The most interesting thing, for me, is how old this cave really is and how long it took for stalagmite to form.

This unique, local heritage tour I suggest to the travellers who would like to get to know more about Slovenia and its capital during the era of socialism or communism as some the travellers call it. Our political system and the position of Slovenia was unique. I would like to share with you, how was it to be young in communist times.

As you might know, ex-first lady of USA- Melania, comes from Slovenia and left the country because of the promising future in the West. At the end of the tour, you will understand why Melania and generally, we, the young people from those days, longed to go abroad.

I am going to share with you my personal experience: I finished elementary school, high school, first college, got my first job in one of the numerous state-owned companies, travelled around the world, and yet, at the end, came back and started my new career in newly established independent young country Slovenia- today a full member of EU.
