Hi, my name is Wan Ling. I am a professional guide and I conduct nature and city tours on this...

Tucked away in the north-western part of the island, this ecological gem is a mangrove forest. Covering only 2. 2 square kilometres, this is Singapore's first ASEAN Heritage Park and it is also a member of the East Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership. From September to March, migratory shorebirds, such as the Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Pacific Golden Plover, etc, can be seen in the reserve. Some will stop here to feed and rest before they fly further south and some will stay on until March when it is time to fly north. Find out where these birds come from, where they go and how we keep track of them on their amazing journey. I have been birdwatching here since 1995 and as a nature guide for more than 10 years. I would love to share my knowledge of mangroves with you and show you where to look for local residents such as mudskippers, crabs, spiders, birds, and monitor lizards. If you are very lucky, you may see some otters, and even a crocodile or two!
Meet at the Wetland Centre car drop-off location. - We will cross Sungei Buloh Besar (the river) using the Main Bridge, where there is a lovely view of nearby Johor Bahru (West Malaysia) and the mangrove forest, - Visit the Main Hide, to check out the birds feeding/resting at the two main ponds, and walk the Migratory Bird Trail (~2km), where there are several hides along the way for us to quietly observe animal activities. The tour can be adjusted to suit your personal interests. Please drop me an email to discuss. ========== Please wear comfortable walking shoes, neutral coloured clothes, and keep yourself well-covered. Bring along a hat or umbrella to shade yourself from the sun, rain gear, mosquito repellent, lots of drinking water, and maybe some snacks. You may want to bring along a pair of binoculars, if you own one.
