Romanian middle ages & Renaissance - full day private tour

About an hour and a half away from Bucharest, driving north west there is the county of Dambovitsa with its most important town, Targoviste (Targovishte). Old capital of the Wallachian war lords for more than 300 years, it still preserves the late medieval ruins of the princely household, with its iconic Twilight Tower. That is indeed the capital of the Impaler during the 1462 Ottoman invasion. The 80, 000 people town is also the place where the most recent bloody event in Romanian history came to a gruesome end: the execution of the dictatorial couple, Elena and Nicolae Ceausescu, in 1989. Before reaching Targoviste we will stop for a visit in a late 17th century princely residence of one of the most important historical figures of Romania - Constantin Brancoveanu Wallachia's de Medici family Romanian Renaissance His story and that of his family will be detailed during the tour, together with the many hues of southern Romania's past.
