In one hand, you have: the Belém Tower, a military outpost built to protect the Tagus Estuary from pirates and enemy attacks; and the Jerónimos Monastery, a very historical place listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in the 16th century ; and my favorite the Ajuda Palace, a true European breathtaking building, home to the Royal family in the 19th century. On the other hand, you have Lx Factory, a creativity island occupied mainly by advertising and design professionals, and the stage for many events in the world of fashion, advertising, communication, architecture, modern art and so on.

From the old to the new city of Lisbon

Half Day Belém Tour Lisbon

On this tour we will unveil part of the city's main sites.
Starting by pick-up at the hotel and to Belem, where we will first see the Belem Tower (outside only). Continuing our tour towards the monument to the discoveries. After seeing the map, understanding the figures represented and understand the development of the Portuguese discoveries in the 1400's, we will drive the Monastery of St. Jerome to visit the church where we finish the first part of the tour.
Drive to the historical center of Lisbon, and stop for a picture on the pink street. The tour will continue towards the city's heart, starting by a walk in the downtown area going through the main squares (Restauradores, Rossio, Augusta street and Trade Square). Leaving thus Alfama to end our tour while the sun is starting to set. We will drive uphill, seeing the Cathedral and stoping at the Miradouro de Sta. Luzia and Miradouro de Nossa Senhora do Monte where we end our tour. Drive back to the hotel.

Lisbon's oldest neighborhoods are very different day and night. . . And there is a particular kind of Live Music bars/restaurants, within the old town limits, where you can listen and feel the Fado Music!

At night, old Fados are played and new Fados are born in these old streets of Lisbon. A tradition that it's still alive and it's not just a reproduction of old songs. Fado, the Portuguese most traditional music genre, its World's Intangible Cultural Heritage according to UNESCO and still very important on the daily routines of Lisbon.

Mouraria and Alfama, made of small streets, alleys and staircases, offer a very different nightlife. We will get to know some of these traditional places that reveal part of Lisbon's identity and cultural heritage through this unique music style.
