The East part of Madeira is in my opinion, the richest in culture!

Villages on the east were until 1930, isolated from each other. Between villages, there is always a deep valley with a stream or a huge cliff and transportation was made using footpaths and boats.

In the East we have the highest mountains on the island, one of them, Pico do Areeiro (1818m) reachable by car, offering overwhelming views.

We'll walk and drive through our magical Laurell forest, using forest trails and the ancient royal path only accessible on foot or all-terrain vehicles.

Years visiting Santana, and talking with locals gave me the knowledge to offer a nontouristy tour where we will visit the charming antique thatched houses, genuine ones where locals live, not the artificial ones selling postcards and flowers in the city center. Santana is in my opinion the most beautiful Council the island, it's the biggest farming region, with the highest mountain, deep native forest and some fascinating hikes and stunning views.

Based on Câmara de Lobos Area, we start over the little fishing village with the same name. We go up through the rough narrow old road toward to the top of it around 1000mt high, for a great viewpoint to the Nuns Valley. We will stop in Jardim da Serra, to be delighted with a great poncha from corrida. Going to pass through the vineyards, go and visit the huge cliffs of Fajã Dos Padres and Cabo Girão, being this the 2nd highest cliff in the world and the highest in Europe.

Then we have a good local lunch; to eat some of the local delicacies as for example the espetada, wich is a local famous and one of my favourite dishes.

Will love sepending the day with you when touring on the island, and avoiding the touristic boring spots. . going to the real traditional places - my favourite quality spots!

On this tour to the beautiful west, we will see and explore this amazing Volcanic island. We will see the big cliffs and natural volcanic pools where, if you dare, you could actually take a swim!

In our Jeep we will take the old roads especially in Ponta do sol, there we will go from the sea level to the west top of the island, the plateau Paul da Serra, the flattest part of Madeira. Since we will be traveling along the old roads we can see the wildlife co-habiting with the local cattle grazing quietly and breathtaking views perfect for amazing photos.

We start with the first winery located in Funchal and we proceed to second with a tasting wine tour, very close to the first. After the tasting we move to our vineyards above Câmara de Lobos, where we have the option to visit a third winery if you would like.

We will drive to the North-East, passing in Caniço and Machico towns where we could stop for all picturesque panorama view, to Porto da Cruz, a lovely village often considered as the best village of the old type of grapes.

We will walk around the village and visit a local cellar, with 17 and 27 years old wine tasting where you will experience the unique flavours of this old grapes. We could do a visit to Distilery of Aguardente, the local Madeira rum made from sugar cane. To end a tasty day, we go to local restaurant for a traditional lunch.

We make a stop at 1200 m altitude to see Nuns Valley from a very nice view point, where we can admire the magnificent village from the top. This is one of my favourite places in the island, very beautiful and breathtaking.

After that we will make a stop on a local bar, where you can try the traditional drinks (Madeira wine 2003) and cake (Madeira honey cake), new flavours not to be missed in the island. These stop is relaxed we go in our pace no stress here! Carry on to across the cherries and apples trees trough the Eucalyptus forest.

Finally, we will visit the highest sea cliff in Europe with 580m Alt. A view not to be missed, you will be able to take amazing picture and walk on a glass floor and look down 580m under your feet.
