Belém Tour: Uncovering the Portuguese Age of Discoveries

Queen of the Seas is another name for Lisbon. The Portuguese people have always had a close relationship with the Sea. This is why we'll start our journey by following the greatest Portuguese explorers footsteps, hear their stories and feel part of History. Belém, also known as the neighbourhood of the Discoveries, we will skip the monumental line to visit the Jeronimos Monastery: a masterpiece of Portuguese Architecture, UNESCO World Heritage Site, the place where the voyagers prayed before venturing into the great unknown and also the resting place of explorers, like Vasco da Gama. Did you know that the famous Portuguese tarts were also invented in this Monastery? They sell over 40 000 a day, on a bad day. We'll learn all about it, while savouring some warm and delicious Pasteis de Belem. Belém is also where I was born and where most of my family lives, so we might run into another historical figure: my grandmother, who's 101 years old!
