Sagres is part of the heritage list of UNESCO, true. However it is the most iconic part of the all Algarve's coast as well, impossible to define in words, you have to go there yourself! This tour is an interesting combination of land and sea. I will drive you to places like Lagos, a very ancient town, Ponta da Piedade and its famous beaches, Sagres and Cape St. Vincent, the most southwesternly point of Europe. Then you'll board on a boat and visit more than 12 grottoes including the famous Benagil one. Can't miss it!

Start at Cape Sao Vicente, popularly known as the end of the world. Experience the isolation that gives this spot its name. Continue to view the fortifications at the fortress of Sagres. Make a stop to enjoy the rock formations at Ponta da Piedade in Lagos.

Choose if you would like to purchase a boat trip through the rock formations inside. Head to the charming old town of Lagos where you can buy lunch at a traditional restaurant.

Drive to Praia da Rocha and admire the view at Portimao Marina. Pass the picturesque village of Carvoeiro, and the cave of Benagil. The last stop is at the famous Marinha Beach.

The Eastern Algarve (Leeward) lies between Vila Real de Santo António and Faro.
A long and flat sandy beach stretches along the bay of Cadiz for many miles from the estuary mouth of the river Guadiana, the border with Spain, to the beginning of the Ria Formosa east of Tavira. Sandy dunes separate the coastal strip from the backdrop of pine woods.

To the west is the unique landscape of the Ria Formosa, extending from Cacela Velha to Ludo near Faro airport. A chain of islands and peninsulas protects the lagoon from the rough Atlantic Ocean, creating a great habitat for a wealth of fauna and flora.

Tavira is a picturesque fishing town embracing a natural paradise. The islands of Ria Formosa are where we find golden sandy beaches surrounded by crystal clear sea.

At the top of the town's Castle, we can admire the Gilao River running through the center under the Roman Bridge. The river is surrounded by cobbled streets and centenary pyramid roof buildings.

This tour is a fantastic way, in just 4 hours, to visit 2 wineries where wines come out with total different characteristics. Although these wines are juicy and wonderful to drink, they are low in acidity and depth. The red wines of the Algarve vineyards can be described as soft to drink. They are low in alcohol and acidity which makes them perfect for the warmer climate. As you have a private driver/guide, nothing better than to sit and relax while enjoying them. On the second winnery you can add some tapas, premium products like ham, cheese and chorizo with bread and olive oil.
