Let's admit it from a start: Poznan never had a big Jewish population. Maximum 7 toushand poeple in mid XIX century, but roughly around 3 -4 toushand people were members of a local Jewish Community before 1918. Poznan's Jewish Heritage might be lesser known side of our city, but still it is a good story and worth to be said. This tour looks like a normal city tour, as we will visit the Old Square area as well, but here our focus lies on lives of a local Jewish Community. We will also visit grounds of a former Jewish cemetery to pay a hommage to a simbolic grave of a great talmudic Rabbi of Poznan - Akiva Eiger, which lived here after the Napoleonic wars has ended. If you book this early enough I will try to arrange us a visit in current Jewish Centre, which is a home to a small Sygangoue. I will tell you more: - how Jews influenced our daily lifes, - which famous polish symbols originate from our Jewish neighbors, - what Maharal of Prague (Hebrew: מהר״ל מפראג) has to do with Poznan, - and more. .
- Old Square, - New* and Old Synagoge in Poznan (from outside), - Jewish quarter in Poznan, - Marcinkowskiego Street, - former Jewish cemetery. *Let me know earlier and I will try to arrange a visit for you in a new Synagoge
