Our first stop during this historical site tour will be at the ruins of "Old Panama, " the first city on the Central American Isthmus founded by the Spanish and later plundered by the famous pirate Henry Morgan in 1671. You will enjoy the Panamanian food in one of the local restaurants El Trapiche. We will travel through a scenic and modern part of the city in route to the Colonial city "Casco Antiguo" (Old Quarters), built in 1673. Walk around to the predominant architectural French and Spanish colonial styles and learn about all the differents events during our history and taste the real panamanian coffee and chocolate.

We will visit the city's most important places (which make this city a unique one, with so many contrast). We will stop at the colonial city (built in 1673), and pass the modern-day Financial Banking Center and comercial shopping áreas. Afterward we will drive on the Coast-way (which join the mainland with the 3 islands that were heavily-fortified wartime U. S. Military defense outpost at the Pacific Ocean entrance of the Canal) weather permitting we will go to the Ancon Hill (the city's highest elevation point).

Here we will have a bird's-eye-view of the Capital City, as well as Miraflores Locks in the distance. We will visit the Panama Canal's "Miraflores Visitors Center".

Our first stop is at the Panama Canal Miraflores Locks. At the visitor center, you may see the ships while they pass through the Canal. You will learn about its history, operation and recent expansion. Then, we will go to the Amador Causeway, a road that connects four small islands on the Pacific, and was made with the excavated materials from the Canal.
The Amador Causeway offers stunning views of Panama City skyline and the Pacific entrance of the Canal. Our next stop is for lunch. You may choose to have lunch at the Amador Causeway, Casco Antiguo or Sabores del Chorrillo.
After lunch, we will head up to Casco Antiguo, Panama City's old town founded in 1673, and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. We will walk around the old quarter, and I will show you the most important buildings, squares and churches of the colonial district, while you learn about the Hispanic legacy and admire the European and neoclassical art of its buildings.
The tour will end with a panoramic drive in Panama City.

The Visitor Center itself has a very well equipped museum involving Canal History.

After enjoying ourselves in this marvelous visit, our next destination; Amador Causeway, is a complex of 3 islands that's located in the entrance of the Panama Canal from which you could get beautiful pictures of the impressive and attractive Skyline of Panama.

Then last but not least, Casco Antiguo built by Spaniards in the years 1670, and you will find the place enchanting, narrow streets and some hallways decorated by some of the most ancient beautiful old buildings, and it has a huge and gorgeous history, not just about Panama.

Our journey today starts with a visit to the Old Canal Zone as we drive through the former Military bases and neighbourhoods that made this important part of our history. We will then make a stop at the Miraflores Locks to see first hand the operation of the Panama Canal.

After this we will then head to Casco Viejo for a walking tour through the historic center which is home to beautiful restored colonial houses and interesting architecture, beautiful cathedrals and plazas. We can enjoy some local flavors in the area as well.
