Bygdøy, the Museum Island Tour from Oslo

Bygdøy is a peninsula located on the west side of the city centre. Here you find 5 of Oslo's most visited museums. It is also a popular recreational area offering beaches, a beach volley ball court, several jogging and biking trails and beach restaurants. The area is a popular residential area as well. During the tour we will visit the Polar Ship Museum Fram, which showcases the exciting history about the polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen and the British polar explorer Scott. We will also have a walk to the open air Norwegian Folk Museum, which exhibits 150 buildings from all parts of Norway, showing the traditional way of life. There is also a stave church which is dated from 1200. At Bygdøy you will also find the Kon Tiki Museum, Thor Heyerdahls museum, and the Maritime museum which tells the story behind the Norwegian seafarer nation.
