Leon was founded in 1610 by the Spaniard next to the Sutiava indigenous settlement. At just 20 miles from the pacific ocean where pirates took advantage and invade the city and destroyed. Next to the chain of Volcano Maribios , Leon has flat fertile soil for agriculture. The first capital of Nicaragua until Managua became the capital because of the dispute between the other colonial city of Granada in the late 1800s. Ruben Dario who was the most popular and famous poet in Nicaragua was raise and buried inside of the cathedral on the right pilar of the main alter.
Our tour start at the Port Of Corinto in the Pacific of Nicaragua, the only commercial port of the Country. The town is relative small and there is not much to do there, so we will drive to the Colonial City of Leon which is 1 hour and 20 min. drive and on the way we will see sugar cane plantations, cattle ranch, small food vendor of fried fish and the popular Conchas Negras. we will visit the following sights : Leon Cathedral Roof Top Central Plaza Food market Art Gallery Ortis Gallery After we will drive back to Corinto and just before we will make a detour to San Jacinto Bubbling Mud park and see micro volcanic crater spilling mud and suffer. We will be in a van with A/C half of the time and then we will be walking in plaza and walking up the steps of the cathedral. Also will be walking about 2 blocks to the hot spring and around the bubbling mud pots.
