Welcome to The Netherlands! I do hope that I will be able to show you some of the beautiful parts...
Itinerary not perfect? Message Frances B. to build a tour that’s just right for you.
This is a walking tour that will take you around the historic university town of Leiden. We will touch on 3 important themes namely: Rembrandt the famous painter and his early formative years. The traces of the Pilgrim Fathers during their years of exile in Leiden, from 1609 to 1620. The first tulip in The Netherlands, where was it planted? A strange combination but absolutely wonderful!
There is not a hard set itinerary for this tour. I usually start from the railway station but a local address is also possible e. g. a hotel. Usually I will take you to: -See the old part of town -The area where the Pilgrim Fathers during their stay in Leiden lived. -Visit the Citadel, -The Pieterskerk and -The Pilgrim Fathers Museum. -The Botanical gardens is where the first tulip was planted in The Netherlands.

We will be walking through the town of Leiden which is very beautiful. The inner city streets are cobblestoned, old and narrow, so it is not feasible to do this by car. Please do wear comfortable walking shoes for maximum comfort! It is also wise to bring along some rain gear as our weather can change at the drop of a hat! This tour is also suitable if you have a long layover at Amsterdam/Schiphol airport. please contact me for details if you are interested and we can arrange a transfer by rail.
