Overview of your Amsterdam tour:

Hesitant to mass tourism, but interested in seeing all the highlights? This tour is designed for you! In 4 to 5 hours I will take you by private car via narrow dike roads to the stunning reclemations of The Netherlands. We will visit a beautifully restored windmill and have a stop at De Rijp, a picturesque village in the north of Holland, with its characteristic town hall, wooden bridge and centuries old wooden houses. Although the oldest polder of the country (finished in 1612!) is inscribed on the World Heritage List you will feel you are surrounded by very few other tourists, due to the narrow dykes and the absence of public transport. Instead of fellow travelers you will primarily meet locals and see herds in the meadows. This is my signature tour. Carefully designed, it provides a truly unique and authentic experience of the Dutch landscape. In the meantime I will tell you all kinds of fun facts, from typical Dutch expressions to the meaning of the decorations on clogs.

Your Amsterdam tour itinerary

In the morning I will pick you up at your hotel. We will drive to an area North of Amsterdam called the Island Polder, an area once covered with huge lakes that since then have been drained, creating new farmland and consequently a unique and typical Dutch landscape. We will use a narrow dike road and pass several quaint villages as we drive towards a series of windmills once used to drain these former lakes as early as 1611. One of these windmills is beautiful restored and can be visited on the inside. Continuing our journey we will ride towards the village De Rijp, a beautiful quaint village, with a draw bridge, historic town hall and typical wooden houses. Here we will have time for some lunch and a small walk. On our way back to Amsrferdam we will pass through the Beemster, the oldest reclamation in Holland and visit a place where they demonstrate cheese and wooden shoe making. During the winter season this tour is slightly different, not all windmills are open all year round, but will be equally fun.
