Amsterdam to Brughes Belgium, including Floodmuseum and Dutch Delta Works, 25 years of world class engineering

After the terrible flooding of the South-West of our country following a big storm and the breaking of the dikes on Februari 1st 1953, hydraulic engineers worked for 25 years to prevent such a disaster in the future. They built 13 dams and barriers of which some are movable. We will pass various of these magnificent structures, like the Storm Surge Barrier "Oosterscheldekering" in Zeeland with its 62 doors that can be closed when a big storm hits our coast. On the way there we will visit the flood museum near Zierikzee which tells the story of the flooding and is built in the original caissons that closed the last gap in the dikes on November 6 1953. ***This is an ideal tour on your way to Brughes Belgium!!***
