Overview of your Yangon tour:

Yangon, formerly known as Dagon, is the most cosmopolitan city in Myanmar with a population of 5 million people. Yangon literally means 'End of strife'. It was founded by the king from upper Myanmar in the year 1752 and changed from Dagon to Yangon. When the British annexed Myanmar (Burma) in 1885, they renamed it as Rangoon because they find it hard to pronounce it properly as locals. So there are some colonial buildings here which are very old. It was the capital city until 2005. Now the government shifted its capital to Naypyidaw (the current capital). But Yangon remains as a very important commercial city. The most fascinating thing in Yangon is the holiest pagoda 'Shwedagon' which is believed to have been built 2600 years ago which is also the land mark of Myanmar (Burma). Note: Travelers are to ask question Before booking.

Your Yangon tour itinerary

Proceed down the Strand road to wander around The STRAND HOTEL, over hundred years old hotel, the expensive hotel in Myanmar. Visit to Bokyoke Aung san market (Formerly known as Scott market), which was built in 1920, wide choice of jewelries, jade, ruby, precious stone and clothes, paintings are on sale. Visit to the ChaukHetGyi reclining Buddha (72 meters long, one of four longest reclining Buddhas in Myanmar). The last stop at the Greatest, the holiest Pagoda (SHWE DAGON PAGODA) which is believed to have been built about 2600 years ago. The Pagoda is 100 meters high and over 3 thousands kilograms of gold are completely gilded. The most revered and peaceful place for All Buddhists. Note: One must remove their shoes and socks when they enter any Pagoda's premise.
