Dear Friends, I am a professional tour guide in Yangon and have been working in the travel industry...
Itinerary not perfect? Message Nyi Nyi H. to build a tour that’s just right for you.
This village would be a perfect place for rural escape. The village is quite small and charming not far from Yangon. You'll get a chance to visit the Bio Garden at the village, nearly 6-acres plot of fertile land, growing vegetable to provide the monastic school in the village. This project is led by the local community and it intends for the guests to learn more about their communities such as lifestyles and livelihoods by helping and interacting with the families in the village. The Garden was turned into an essential hotspot for vegetable production shortly after the Cyclone Nargis disaster in 2008. The primary beneficiary of the nutrient-rich food grown here is a nearby monastic school, home to over 800 students. Visiting a nearby town would be great idea as there're many things to see such as peaceful shwesandaw stupa, Twantay canal and the age-old potteries. Let's discover this small charming town and learn many of its historical events in the past. One in lifetime countryside experience for sure!
After pickup from your hotel in Yangon, drive (46 km, 1hour and 45 minutes) to Kyaikthalae village in Twantay Township. Stop at old Maung Tee stupa built by King Anuradha of Bagan in the late 11th century before getting there. On arrival into Kyaikthalae village, the guest will receive a warm welcome at the community lodge and be explained more about the village and the people this project currently supports. Then pay a visit to villager's home to learn about the local industry including bamboo basket weaving and sewing. You can either walk or cycle to go around the village which is escorted by a community guide. Go to Mingalar Monastic Education Center. Nearby, visit ancient Kiln site used in the 15 centuries. Have lunch prepared at the community lodge. Then continue to Twantay to visit well-known Shwe San Daw Pagoda located on hillock peacefully. Next, go to the age-old Pottery cottage industry to watch the demonstration of making earthenware. Visit Twantay canal and then return to Yangon.
