Puebla's cuisine is an art dating back to the 16th century and was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Puebla is one of only 26 cities on earth listed in the Délice Network for its sophisticated mix of pre-Hispanic, Oriental & European elements. I'll arrange for you to taste this internationally known Baroque cuisine in a colonial restaurant. You'll indulge in the Mole Poblano made with chocolate (1681), the Pipian made with pumpkin seeds, and his majesty the Chile en Nogada invented in 1820 with fruits & a delicious walnut-based sauce (July to Sept). You'll discover the intact original kitchens in the convents of Santa Rosa & Santa Monica where these dishes were conceived. I'll tell you the anecdotes behind the inventions & unveil their secret recipes. We'll also get to stroll down the street of sweets as I introduce you to the most typical confectionery of Puebla created by the city nuns. After this tour, you'll know why Puebla is the capital of traditional Mexican cuisine.
-After picking you up from your lodging or anywhere that suits you best, we'll visit the Santa Rosa Convent & see the original kitchen where the Mole Poblano was created in 1681. -Next, we'll visit the original kitchen of the Santa Monica convent, where the Chile en Nogada was created in 1820. -Afterwards, you'll taste the flavours of the authentic Puebla cuisine with a delicious gourmet meal, accompanied by traditional liquors. The meal accommodates gluten and dairy-free diets. -Next, we'll stroll down the street of sweets & get to taste the confectionery specialties created by the Poor Clare nuns in the 17th and 18th century. -Finally, I'll drop off at your accommodation or wherever you prefer.
