Welcome to Guadalajara! I created this experience to introduce travelers to the city where I was born and raised. More than a regular tour I'd like to provide you with a thoughtful progression through the city, with an emphasis on history, architecture and food. By navigating the local market, the main public plazas and the historic neighborhoods you will become immersed in the city's vibrant culture. Get ready to discover the architecture of the plazas at a comfortable pace while being led through a detailed narration of the city's intriguing anecdotes and fascinating insights. You will also get to embark on a culinary journey at local shops and stands that only the locals know about. Vegan and vegetarian choices are available. By the end of our fully-immersive cultural experience you will have a wider understanding of Guadalajara and Mexico's past, present and future. * Please contact me for customized tours or for groups of more than 2 persons.
We will meet at your preferred morning hour, I suggest we start at 8 or 9 am to avoid the heat and crowds. In a fun and relaxed 4-hour walk you'll see 10+ of Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including: • The Cathedral. • The city square and the main plazas. • The government buildings. • Templo Expiatorio. • Mercado Libertad (the largest indoor market in Latin America). • Colonia Americana. • Hospicio Cabañas. • Degollado Theater. • . . . and more! As part of the tour you will: • Learn about the history and culture of the city with a local guide. • Savor the best of Guadalajara's culinary treasures at local markets and hidden shops. • Enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of Latin America's largest indoor market, Mercado Libertad. • Tour Guadalajara while learning about the legacy of religious conflicts and colonialism. • Explore Colonia America, the neighborhood established in the early 1900s by wealthy American and European industrialists, nowadays the city's hipster/trendy area.
