Have you ever wondered how a familiar place looked like a year ago? A decade ago? A century ago? I have, that's the inspiration for the following tour. Mexico City's Downtown area is a place filled with history and mystery. A few centuries have gone by since the first settlers came to inhabit a lake that seemed unsuitable to sustain a simple village. But lo and behold, a civilization sprung from those humble origins. Then came the so-called conquerors, although textbooks greatly exaggerated the influence of these controversial figures. Amongst them, Hernán Cortés is (undoubtedly) one of the most revered and hated characters. Get to know the route that this notorious conquistador took as he massacred the natives with his powerful army. I got curious about Cortés almost a decade ago, during my college years, so I've been able to explore and discover all the significant sites regarding his military campaign. Join me and learn all about it!
4:30 p. m. Meet up at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana. 5:00 p. m. The meeting of two worlds. 5:30 p. m. Stroll down Cortes' memory lane. 6:30 p. m. Stop at Zocalo Square and other relevant locations. 7:30 p. m. End of tour.
