A top-ranking area for its wonderful bays and its remote fishermen's villages, Diamond Peninsula also features remarkable geological and historical attractions, such as His Majesty Ship Diamond Rock, a stronghold of the British in the Anglo-French wars, or Cape 110, where a full cargo of slaves fought a nightlong against the fury of a hurricane . . . It is also the birthplace of Josephine, Empress of the French
We will start at the Fort-de-France cruise terminal, on Flemish Bay Then we will drive Southward to the attractive town of Trois-Ilets, where a planter's child who was to become Empress was born. We will stop in the Dry Coastal Forest, and visit the museum dedicated to the area The village of Anse d'Arlet is an award winner in the "Most Beautiful Village" Contest (its church facing the landing pier is now legendary). We will stroll along its beautiful beach and visit the small market Driving to the village of Diamant we will stop and marvel at "Diamond Rock" a geological curiosity, and the "Cap 110" monument. Both landmarks are related to outstanding historical occurrences Before going back to the cruise terminal we will visit a rum distillery and taste among the best of Martinique rums
