The remembrance of the visit of St. Paul to the island is preserved by the people, and the recollections of the viper which fastened on his hand, the sick men which he healed, the wonder of his short residence, are still cherished. St Paul was, of course, and still retains, the primacy in patronship upon Malta, having introduced Christianity in these islands in 60 AD.
