Lithuania - a country where forests cover more than 33% of the country and mushroom hunting is considered the second-most popular sport after basketball. During this tour we will head to Kernave, - once the medieval capital of Lithuania, where at the archeological museum and UNESCO site we will learn the history of Lithuania. Later - time to get to know the Lithuanian forest and it's treasures: hug trees for inner strength, eat wild berries directly from the twigs and, of course, pick mushrooms. I will lead you to my secret mushroom spots, where I will teach you how to identify, gather and enjoy these wonderful delicacies with confidence. After you learn the tricks of foraging, you will also learn about the ways of preservation and how to use your forest trophies according to the principles of the delicious Lithuanian cuisine.
This tour can be customised to your needs. - Drive to Kernave, - Lithuania's historic capital - Kernave Archeological museum & UNESCO site - Mushroom hunting in the forest - Herbal Tea break with traditional Lithuanian snacks - Drive back to Vilnius Please note: - Mushroom hunting is seasonal and subject to changing climate and weather patterns. All mushroom species have varying seasons and are dependent on proper conditions for fruiting. I cannot guarantee that specific mushroom species will be available for collection at any given time due to these factors. - It's not 100% guaranteed we find mushrooms, although that would be very unusual. Also, depending, on the time of year, our forests are full with different wild berries. - This tour is made with my private car (modest, but clean and safe). What to bring mushroom hunting: - Clothing that covers legs and arms - Hiking boots or comfortable sneakers - Camera and other personal items - Rain gear (when raining)
