What I love most about Nakuru is that there is always something to encounter, from male weaver birds working themselves into a frenzy, noisily wooing a reluctant female, to lions getting ready for a hunt or baboons fighting for dominance. . . This is a full-day excursion that takes you on a Safari adventure outside Nairobi visiting four attractions within the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru gives you the opportunity to observe flamingos as well as search for other wildlife such as buffaloes, rhino, giraffes and baboons. Lake Nakuru is world famous also as a sanctuary for both black and white rhino. Besides that, more than 400 species of birds can be seen in the park. Between the lake and the cliffs in the west, large pythons inhabit the dense woodland, and can often be seen crossing the roads or dangling from trees. Also covered in this tour is the Baboon Cliff, Makalia Waterfall, Lake Naivasha boat safari in search of Hippos and birds. Finally Crescent sanctuary where you can walk among Animals.
Suggested and flexible itinerary: Pick up at your chosen hotel/location within Nairobi between 5:00 & 5:30, drive down the escarpment to Lake Nakuru arriving at 8. 30 AM for a morning game drive along the lakeshore. The lake is world famous for flamingos that visit the lake to feed on algae forming on the lake bed. The park is also home to Roth's child giraffes, water bucks, impala, lions, leopards, pythons and rhinos which we will track on our drive to Makalia Fall, one of the rivers feeding the Lake and later to the Baboon Cliff. After the game Drive, depart Nakuru National Park and visit Lake Naivasha after lunch for an hour Boat Safari to see Hippos. Lake Naivasha is also rich in bird life. Finish the tour with a visit the Crescent, a walkable sanctuary where you can walk among giraffe, zebra, hippos, antelope, wildebeest, and many birds such as goliath heron, spoonbills and giant kingfishers. It takes you a 2 hours to walk around the sanctuary.
