Takayama Shōwa-kan Retro Museum, let's travel back in time!

Takayama Showakan Museum is a really unique place in the town. Showa is a name of Japanese era (1926-1989) and the Museum displays numerous collections made and used during the time, especially 1950s and 1960s. Shops and streets are recreated to show them, which will make visitors feel as if they are back in the days. My wife and I have visited this place after we got married, and we loved it since we found here many things which brought to us great memories of that time. I will share my stories with you. Another thing I offer on the tour is tasting some local food, Hida Beef, rice dumplings, sake and sweet. This is what local people enjoy in everyday life. When I first moved here and tasted the local food, I enjoyed them because they were really different from the taste I had known. I am happy to show them and to tell stories behind them, which will help you understand more about our food. I think tasting local food is a great way to see local life. With a local guide, it will be enhanced a lot more.
