Otaru & Yoichi 9.5hr Private Tour from Sapporo

This tour offers some of the must-see spots in Otaru in a day. We will use public transportation. If you have a JR Hokkaido Pass, please bring it with you. Otaru is a romantic old port city, about 40-minute away from Sapporo. We walk around Otaru Canal area. Sakaimachi Street is lined with souvenir shops and sweets shops, like LeTao, Rokkatei, Kitakaro. Glassware shops carry soy sauce cruets, fancy goods and tumblers and plates, and there is a samurai goods shop. Music box shops sell a wide variety of music boxes including sushi-shaped ones. 　 Nikka Whisky Museum is located in Yoichi, 25-minutes train ride from Otaru city. Of Nikka's two malt whisky distilleries, Yoichi produces rich, peaty and masculine malt. The whisky gets its distinct aroma and body from direct heating distillation, in which the pot stills are heated with finely powdered natural coal--the traditional method that is hardly ever used today, even in Scotland.
