Nara Park is a vast area, spanning 4 kilometers from west to east and 2 kilometers from north to south, accommodating around 1,200 deer. You can encounter deer anywhere in the park and even feed them. People and deer have peacefully coexisted for more than 1,000 years. Deer are now rather indifferent to people unless they have deer crackers. Once you have them in your hand, the deer suddenly become aggressive toward you. However, you need to keep calm and try to teach them to bow. Some deer have already learned to bow, but not all of them. So, your role in teaching them is very important. Nara was the first capital city of Japan, preceding Kyoto. Emperors resided here for over two centuries, during which Buddhism took root in Japan. Buddhism then was not just a religion but also brought technology to build huge constructions.
