Why don't you include Nara in the itinerary for your next trip? As the first permanent capital of Japan, the city witnessed a lot and is rich in cultural and historical treasures. It has more UNESCO world heritage sites than any other part of the country. (Yes, more than Kyoto!) But that's a mere fraction of why I love Nara. Its calm and relaxed atmosphere, the scenic view of Mt. Wakakusa, cute little shops selling crafts in Naramachi, and plenty of quality restaurants making the best of fresh local vegetables keep me returning to this gem. Of course, wild deer roaming around the city is always a plus! You can even try feeding those designated natural treasures some special crackers made of rice bran and wheat. My walking tour covers the absolute must-sees of Nara, such as the famous Big Buddha AND my favorite alley with traditional townhouses where you can enjoy Japanese arts, crafts, and sake. So join me, and you won't regret spending an unforgettable day in this beautiful part of western Japan!
- Meet at an agreed location, such as Kintetsu Nara station, JR Nara station, or your hotel. - Todaiji temple and the Big Buddha - Nara Park and deer time - Lunch (optional) - Naramachi area (Visit traditional townhouses, a craft museum and shops, Gangoji temple, and a sake brewery. ) - End the tour at Nara station or your hotel. We can discuss our plan and visit fewer/more attractions or replace sights to meet your interests. Alternative attractions: - Ishibutai Stone Tumulus dates from the Asuka Period [552-645]. We can rent a bike and explore the rural village of Asuka. - Horyuji temple, the oldest surviving wooden structure in the WORLD. We can't talk about the beginning of Buddhism in Japan without Horyuji. If you want to customize this tour, please get in touch with me with your questions, and I will be happy to make it happen.
