In many places and at many events, Japanese tea is often performed for tourists and locals, but often the tea is only served behind the scenes, or you can watch the master prepare the tea, but only the first guests can drink it. The rest of the guests are served tea prepared in the back of the room. Perhaps this has been misunderstood as the so-called ‘tea ceremony’ in Japan. Many Japanese people will probably never know the true tradition of the tea ceremony unless they go and learn it themselves. That is a shame, so I want to show them the real way of the tea ceremony somehow. I am a tour guide and a Urasenke tea school professor, so I have put together a tour that will take you through a series of formal tea ceremonies. I hope you will enjoy the real tea ceremony with me.
Depart from Matsue Station (or meet at your hotel near Matsue Station) at 1:00pm Taxi to the site Experience a series of tea ceremony steps 1:30pm - 4:10pm (including the experience of making tea yourself) Drop off at Matsue Station (or at your hotel near Matsue Station) 4:30pm By taxi from the site
