Himeji castle, with the nick name of White Heron castle because of the shape of its beautiful white castle tower, welcomes us after 5 years of renovation work. It is truly miracle to have the castle with 400 years of history, surviving from many wars without damage. (It is the national treasure as well as the first World Cultural Heritage site designated by Unesco in Japan) We will explore the castle with the romance of Princess Sen, who survived from the civil war at Osaka castle in 1614/1615 and remarried to the son of the castle master at Himeji. For lunch, you have an option, Kobe beef at my favorite restaurant or other cuisine at Kobe. After lunch, we take gondola to the top of Mt. Nunobiki with herb gardens to enjoy panorama view of Osaka bay. Or, we can visit Sake brewery for tasting at Kobe on behalf of herb garden, at your option. We will be back to Kyoto ( or Osaka ) by JR local train with the arrival there by 17:30 ( or Osaka by 17:00
Meet at your hotel in Kyoto ( before 8:00 subject to the location) -Kyoto station (8:00) : by Shinkansen Hikari (8:23 departure) - Himeji station (9:16)- Walk to Himeji castle for 20 minutes. Walk in the castle along the corridor/stone wall through gates for 20 minutes. Walk in the castle tower carrying shoes with vinyl sucks, up/down stairs for 30 minutes. Extend the walk to Princes Sen's corridor for 30 minutes. Walk out the castle for 20 minutes. (9:30 to 11:30) - Back to Himeji station via taxi (12：00 ) - via JR local train - Sannomiya station (12：45 ) - Kobe beef Lunch or other cuisine (13:00-14:00) -via subway to Shinkobe station (14:15) -by gondola - Enjoy views from Mt. Nunobiki (14:30-15:30) - by gondola to Shinkobe station (15:45) - subway - Sannomiya station (16:00) - by JR local- Kyoto (17:15)- Your hotel (around 17:30 subject to the location). ( In case of Osaka start, we will take Shinkansen Hikari with 8：36 departure at Shin-osaka station and be back to Osaka station around 17:00).

(a) We use public transportation i.e. Shinkansen, JR limited express, subway, and gondola. (b) This tour takes about three hours of walking with approximately 11 kilometers or 7 miles of distance. Also, climbing up/down the castle stairs for 5 stories with shoes holding in vinyl sack is expected. (c) The fare of public transportation will be about 8,850 yen ( from Kyoto) or 6,930 yen ( from Osaka ), including 4,840 yen ( from Kyoto) or 3,610 yen ( from Osaka ) for Shinkansen.
