Nara is an older capital of Japan than Kyoto, with mystery. We yet know why the ancient capital, Nara, was suddenly abandoned in 784 with only 75 years of short life, leaving so many ruins in the nature. As a result, today travelers can enjoy her for the beautiful nature blended with more than 1, 300 years of history. The central part of the city is entirely a natural park, with grass fields, forests and wild animals, especially wild deer. Here, you may be surprised when a herd of wild deer is crossing driveways, while cars are waiting. In fact, people love them with Shinto worships as a legend. Though they are wild, you can feed them by hand and they may return their bows to you, if you learn it. In the park, we have so many sites, i. e. Kofukuji temple with five storied pagoda, Todaiji temple with great Buddha and Kasuga shrine with thousands of stone lanterns. On our way back to Kyoto, we will stop by Fushimi-inari shrine, for travelers love to photograph tunnels of vermilion colored Shinto gates there.
We will meet at the lobby of your hotel in Kyoto at 8:30 am. We take a subway or a bus and switch to the local train Kintetsu at Kyoto station. About one hour ride on Kintetsu train takes us to Nara. There, we will walk from Kofukuji temple to Todaiji temple, all the way through Nara Park. A lunch is taken at a restaurant located on the way back to the station. Shopping Japanese handicrafts and souveniors is available on your way back to Nara station. Leaving Nara around 14:00 We drop by at Fushimi-Inari shrine around 15:00. Leaving Fushimi Inari before 16:00 we will be back to your hotel around 16:30.
