Behind the majestic façade of Palladio’s Redentore, on the quiet island of Giudecca, lies a hidden garden. In this tour, I’ll guide you into a place usually closed to the public: the Capuchin monastery’s orchard. Among ancient roses, centuries-old olive trees, and medicinal herbs, we’ll explore the symbolic meaning of monastic gardens, the slow rhythm of contemplative life, and the traces of a still-living spirituality. A peaceful corner suspended between sky and lagoon, where time slows down and each step invites silence and wonder.
We’ll meet on the Giudecca waterfront, then step into a part of the monastery that remained closed to the public until 2024. Passing through the quiet cloister, we’ll reach the beautifully restored garden, a hidden gem brought back to life. If you wish, you can enjoy lunch at the small on-site restaurant (no reservations accepted — first come, first served). To end the experience, we’ll also have time to visit the magnificent church of the Redentore.
