Venice is the city where tourist beds availability is greater than the beds belonging to the local residents! However this very strong tourist pressure lead to discussion about Venetian overtourism. This being said, most is concentrated in the main areas, so the rest of city is often quite empty, even during high season. Therefore this tour is focused on exploring daily life in Venice, places where the Venetians go to hide from the massive tourism, simply a parallel city that people from abroad are usually unable to recognize. Places worth mentioning here are La Fenice Theater, Scala del Bovolo, Giacomo Casanova birthplace, Squero de San Trovaso (Gondola building boatyard), Accademia's Bridge, with the best Grand Canal views and Santa Margherita's square, the heart of the Venetian student's life. We'll be visiting beautiful hidden venues, nice monumental attractions with no big marketing that you may miss out on weren't you not accompanied by a local like myself! Come enjoy a secluded, magic experience.
-Starting nearby Saint Mark's square, this will usually be the place where we say goodbye to the massive crowds. -We'll then go behind the square, to a quiet area, where we'll stop in front of the facade of the La Fenice Theatre. -A few minutes ahead, we'll stop by the so called Venetian Pisa's Tower, the Scala del Bovolo. -Next, passing by some off-the-beaten-path alleys we'll see the street where Giacomo Casanova was born (the exact house is unknown). -We'll then cross Accademia's Bridge, the highest and the longest one in the Grand Canal, with stunning views. -Nearby a charming tavern we'll see the Gondola boatyard traditionally known as Squero. -We'll finish in Santa Margherita's square, full of nice taverns and gelaterias where youths meet. The itinerary can be customized according to your needs & requests. Note: In the museums, archaeological sites, churches, etc, the dress code for both men and women requires shoulders and knees to be covered. Shorts and skirts are fine, but below the knees.
