We will drive through my favorite places, the great Etruscan towns of Tarquinia and Tuscania and through the lush countryside to Bolsena, which is a charming medieval town on the shore of Europe's largest Vulcan lake. Bolsena is on the pilgrimage road to Rome and a visit to St. Cristina is a must. I will tell you about the miracle of Corpus Domini and have a coffee in the central square with local people. From there we will make a short trip to the famous and fascinating "dying town" Civita di Bagnoregio, which can be reached only by foot over a bridge. The town is slowly disappearing because it is perched on a rock that is sliding into the surrounding valley. After this unique experience, we will proceed through the beautiful winery landscape and discover the hilltop town Montefiascone with its local winery and have lunch with local products and out of mamma's kitchen. On our way back we'll drive through the beautiful historical center of Viterbo, home, in the past, to popes and emperors.

We will see the evidence left by some of the greatest artists both in the Middle Ages and in the Reaissance on top of this Rock made of golden volcanic tufa stones. The bright golden mosaic tiles of the Duomo, Signorelli's outstanding Last Judgment frescoes, as well as the Fortress with its "mysterious" well are only some of the beauties of this gorgeous town I will have the pleasure to show you in details.

Orvieto's magnificent Cathedral, which dominates the skyline of this ancient Etruscan town, has a fascinating history. During mass, a 13th century priest, whose faith was wavering, noticed that the host had bled onto the altar cloth. This was such an astonishing miracle that this vast Cathedral was built around the altar cloth which we can still see today. The New Chapel which was decorated by Signorelli gave Michelangelo his inspiration for his work in the Sistine Chapel. His vivid frescoes of the Last Judgement and his vision of the End of the World strike the faithful and dazzle us. It really must be seen.
Nearby there is the opportunity to share a completely unique experience: St. Patrik's Well. The double helix design of the stairs, leading to and from the water, still leaves modern engineers incredulous

We'll have a relaxing stroll in Villa Lante's renaissance gardens with its joyous fountains in my favorite Etruscan town of Bagnaia. Villa Lante was the no. 1 design of renassaince gardens in Europe, inspiring Villa d'Este and Versailles.

A short drive through the forest surrounding the Vico lake brings us to a hilltop town called Caprarola.

Lunch, will take place in the restaurant with the locals we'll visit in the same town the splendid Farnese palace and its gardens on the green Cimini hills. This imposing castle, built by Pope Paul III, was transformed by his 18-year-old nephew cardinal into a renaissance luxury residence for popes and princes, which has been a location for many film.

Viterbo will be visited on our way back.

Perugia is a city of deep culture.
Pietro Vannucci, nicknamed the Perugino, had his workshop here and was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the greatest painters of Renaissance. The irreligious and avaricious artist gave the 11-year-old Raphael his first break into the art world.

The Palazzo dei Priori, today's Town Hall, houses the National Gallery of Umbria.
