Born in Milan, I moved definitively to Sicily in 1989 and, since the very first moment, I felt in love with this incredible island, mix of contradictions and beauties. Syracuse is probably one of the towns which kept intact the atmosphere of the ancient past in its historical centre. Founded in the 8th century b. C. by the Greeks, Syracuse had to become one of the most powerful towns of the Mediterranean sea together with Athens. We will visit the archaeological park called Neapolis with the ancient Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre, the Altar of Ieron II and the limestone quarries. In the baroque centre of the quarter Ortigia the cathedral, the fountain Arethusa and the Apollo temple.
In the The Archaeological Park we will see: - The Greek Theatre - The Roman Amphitheatre - The Ear of Dyonisos in the lime stone quarries - The Altar of Ieron II Then we will have a nice walk in the baroque historical centre of Ortigia to see: - The Cathedral Square - The Fount Arethusa - The temple of Apollo and more. . ! This is a walking tour that can be up-graded to use private transportation. If this is your choice, please, require to receive a tailor made itinerary.
