You can find lots of tours of the Ghetto and Trastevere but hardly one that takes you inside a lavish residence of a banker of the 1500s !! On top of that, on the way, we'll drop by some of the historic stores that still provide food that is a work of art for the palate. We start from the Theatre of Marcellus to proceed to the nearby Jewish neighborhood where we have our first yummy stop to enjoy one of the Roman specialties (remember not to eat too much for breakfast in your hotel). Walking past the Synagogue and using the city's oldest bridge, we get to the district where residents have always boasted to be the REAL ROMANS! Our walk in Trastevere's alleys is the chance to see S. M. in Trastevere Church but also to drop by a biscuit factory established in 1940. Villa Farnesina is the proof of how rich you could become if you were the Pope's banker. . Last but not least, the cherry on top will be a glass of wine with Roman street food.
The itinerary: - Theatre of Marcellus + Portico di Ottavia (outside) - Ghetto - Yummy stop: the famous 'ricotta' and black cherry cake at the Pasticceria Boccione or 'maritozzo' with cream and coffee at the Kosher Cake - Cenci's residence (outside) - Synagogue (outside) - Fabricius Bridge - Tiberina Island - Cestio Bridge - Yummy stop: artisanal biscuits at Biscottificio Innocenti in Trastevere - A walk in Trastevere where I can show you my favorite corners - Santa Maria in Trastevere Church (inside) - Villa Farnesina (inside) - Yummy stop: supplì, 'trapizzino' and drink at the Trapizzino in Trastevere This tour is held from Monday to Friday and only in the morning. The itinerary can be customized. Generally in all the Roman historical monuments and churches dress code for both men and women requires shoulders and knees to be covered. Shorts and skirts are fine, but below knees. Do not bring large items (e. g. large bags, backpacks, long umbrellas…).
