Piazza Venezia is an important traffic circle in the centre of the modern city; thousands of people pass through every day without stopping!Let's focus on this area! At the foot of the Capitoline Hill, is a wonderful example of urban continuity inRome: imperial ruins, medieval towers, churches, the Renaissance Venezia Palaces, and the outstanding monument in honor of the king who unified Italy (1885-1935)-- the Vittoriano, knownworldwide as the wedding cake! The monument has an eclectic style, a mix of the different periods of Italian history. Walking up we discover the symbolic meaning of its decoration. A glass elevator take us to the roof top of the Vittoriano where we enjoy a breath-taking 360° viewover Rome. Palazzo Venezia, the first Renaissance Palace in Rome, was built as the residence of a Pope; it was the location of important events in history from the Renaissance to the second world war. We canadmire the representative rooms, the 2 gardens, and the Museum's collections.
We will visit: - Piazza Venezia overview - Ruins of Imperial Insula (block of flats) 1st century A. D. (outside) - San Marco church (8th-century mosaics) - Palazzo Venezia Museum: Former Papal apartment and representative rooms (decorations attributed to Bramante and Mantegna) Secret garden Viridario Great Garden Collection of paintings (works by Beato Angelico, Vasari, the Double Portrait by Giorgione…. ); a collection of medieval wooden sculptures; Renaissance bronzes; terracotta sketches from the Baroque period of great masters such as Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Alessandro Algardi; porcelain collection; marble reliefs (from I century A. D. to Renaissance). The itinerary can be customized according to your needs and requests. Please write me if there are people with mobility problems and if you use or need a wheelchair, the itinerary will be different.
