Don't miss the great opportunity to discover the "Museum of the Museums"!! The Capitolini Museums are the oldest public collection of art in the world, began in 1471 when Pope Sixtus IV donated a collection of bronze statues to the citizens of Rome. During this 3-hours private tour, I will show you the prestigious art and archaeological collection made of famous pieces of classical statues and prestigious artworks such as the original version of the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius or the renowned bronze statue of a she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. The collection is exhibited in two palaces linked by an underground gallery: the 17th-century Palazzo Nuovo and the 15th-century Palazzo dei Conservatori , which house the Conservatori Apartment, adorned by 16th century frescoes, and the painting gallery (Pinacoteca) enriched with Italian and and foreign masterpieces (Caravaggio, Rubens, Reni, Titian and Tintoretto).
Piazza del Campidoglio (Michelangelo's square) * Palazzo dei Conservatori: here there are the apartments of the Conservators (magistrates), all the rooms have elaborate interior decorations, including frescoes, stuccos, tapestries, and carved ceilings and doors and famous works as the bronze she-wolf nursing Romulus and Remus (which has become the emblem of Rome) * Palazzo Caffarelli-Clementino: Rich collection of marble and bronze statues (the original 160 AD bronze statue of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius on horseback), coins, medals, jewels, and jewelry. * Underground Galleria Lapidaria: located beneath the square, it links the three palaces sitting on the square, there are remains of an ancient roads and some buildings of the imperial period. There are three arcades open out on to the Roman Forum with an incredible view of ruins of this fascinating archaeological site. * Palazzo Nuovo: impressive collection of marble statues, many Roman copies of Greek masterpieces. -This tour can be customized-
