Be enchanted by the wonders of Cardinal Scipione Borghese's 16th-century princely villa, built to house his extensive collection of antiques, paintings and sculptures. The first floor with its magnificent ceilings houses the collection of statues. Antique masterpieces and the first works of art by Gianlorenzo Bernini, the talented artist discovered by the Cardinal. The first floor, or "piano nobile", is dedicated to paintings. Like a book of art history, you can admire magnificent works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods here. Caravaggio, Raffaello, Tiziano. . . these are just some of the painters you will see here. An incredible collection housed in an amazing setting, so rich that even Napoleon wanted to get his hands on it and did so by marrying his sister to Camillo Borghese, the heir to the family. As an art historian, I will introduce you to the history of the collection.
Room by room, you will admire the absolute masterpieces of European art by: Raphael, Botticelli, Titian Caravaggio. Last but not least, you will admire the sublime marble sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, probably the greatest sculptor of the 17th century. The tour will last 2 hours. At the end of your tour, don't miss a stroll through the villa's beautiful park.
