Elisa T.
Ciao belli! I am Elisa, a local tour guide born and raised in the Eternal City- an authentic Roman...

The Borghese Gallery Museum was originally commissioned by the cardinal Scipione Borghese to house his private art collection. As an incredible art expert and patron of arts of the 1600s, in part thanks to his uncle Pope Paul V Borghese, Scipione had the best artists of his time at his disposal. I have designed a journey through the gallery that will take you up close to many incredible masterpieces by the greatest Italian artists and will include the secrets of the Borghese Family. You will see Canova's famous sculpture of Paolina Borghese Bonaparte as Venus Victrix and the best sculptures of the baroque genius, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, such as Apollo and Daphne and Pluto's rape of Proserpina. Admire the mystic painting by the cursed painter Caravaggio and be overwhelmed by the elegance of Titian's Sacred and Profane Love (also known as Venus and the Bride) and feel the pity of Mary Magdalene watching the Entombment of Christ by the great Raphael.
