Water in ancient Rome was a vital element. With its 11 aqueducts, the city was provided with approximately 1 million cubic meters of water per day. The water was used for drinking, but also for the public fountains and for the wonderful Baths. With this tour we will have the chance to retrace part of the itinerary of the ancient Vergine aqueduct, the same one that feeds the Trevi Fountain and to discover where its remains are still visible in the underground and in the open air. We will have the unique opportunity to visit the archaeological area hidden under the one of the most famous fountain with centuries-old stratification. More than nine meters below the current street level, the archaeological excavations carried out between 1999 and 2001 during the renovation works of the former Cinema Trevi brought to light a building complex from the imperial age which represents a remarkable testimony of the urban fabric of ancient Rome.
