We will go around for about two hours in the neighborhoods of Testaccio and Ostiense. I will be glad to show you aspects of the city that otherwise you would probably not get to know, exploring areas with an ancient history that were shaped by continuous transformations up to recent times, also being reinvented as alternative centers of the Roman night life. The walk starts from Testaccio district which was home to the Emporium port, where the bulk of the Romans' food supply funneled into the city and it ends in the quirky Ostiense neighborhood, with its modern vibes, hosts Rome's universities and is rich in art, culture, and cuisine. During the walk it will be possible to guess important people drawn in a mural; walk by the most ancient artificial hill of history; eat the best Roman sandwich in town; enter in a very peculiar cemetery, admire the best-preserved pyramid of Rome; enter in an occupied building and much more! NOT available on Sunday since some places to visit are closed!
• Meeting point by the bridge connecting Trastevere and Testaccio districts • Discover the history of the neighborhood and its anecdotes • The old Roman harbor: the Emporium • The central square of Testaccio and its lively atmosphere • Monte dei Cocci: the first artificial hill in the history, you will be amazed! • The market: taste something here!
