This is a half day guided tour in the medieval town of Assisi, a leisurely stroll through its picturesque alleyways from the Basilica of Saint Clare to the Basilica of Saint Francis. A mile and a half walk down the hill, time for a cup of tea on the main square between the city hall and the remains of an ancient Roman temple.
Particular attention is dedicated to the frescoes of Giotto in the upper Basilica of Saint Francis.
Giotto is considered by many historians the first artist developing a narrative and naturalistic style that owes little to the Byzantine culture of icons.

We will see the evidence left by some of the greatest artists both in the Middle Ages and in the Reaissance on top of this Rock made of golden volcanic tufa stones. The bright golden mosaic tiles of the Duomo, Signorelli's outstanding Last Judgment frescoes, as well as the Fortress with its "mysterious" well are only some of the beauties of this gorgeous town I will have the pleasure to show you in details.
Don't forget that Orvieto's wine has always been praised as one of the best in the country and its shops and gastronomy will of course attract you.

Assisi Where Spirituality And Art Meet

Val d'Orcia is known worldwide for its gorgeous landscape and its beautiful old villages. It is a rare example of perfect collaboration between humans and nature, the countryside seems painted by a Renaissance artist and the towns are incredibly charming.

This full day tour will cover both aspects of this amazing land, all in one day. In the morning we will hike on a medium-easy 9-km trail and we will visit one of the most iconic places in the area, the Chapel of Vitaleta. The hike is a loop that starts and ends in San Quirico and only requires some equipment: hiking shoes, water, sun cap and screen, sunglasses and, of course, a camera!

When we get back to San Quirico we will have free time for lunch (self catered or booked at a local restaurant, not included in the tour price) and then we will spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful town centre, with its stunning architecture and its green gardens.

The town was known to the Romans as Hispellum. The characteristic appearance of Spello derives primarily from the pink and white stone, used in its construction, which gives the town a warm roseate glow, especially in the evening.

This small gem of Spello is my favourite tiny town in Umbria. Everything is harmonious here and Pinturicchio is my beloved Umbrian painter. When you visit Cappella Bella or Beautiful Chapel, it leaves a lasting impression by reason of its extreme and unique sense of melancholic beauty of the characters in the stories Pinturicchio has crafted.

Spello is fabulous and that is the reason this place has been chosen for the wonderful flower festival in June.

During mass, a 13th century priest, whose faith was wavering, noticed that the host had bled onto the altar cloth. This was such an astonishing miracle that this vast Cathedral was built around the altar cloth which we can still see today. The New Chapel which was decorated by Signorelli gave Michelangelo his inspiration for his work in the Sistine Chapel. His vivid frescoes of the Last Judgement and his vision of the End of the World strike the faithful and dazzle us. It really must be seen.
Nearby there is the opportunity to share a completely unique experience: St. Patrik's Well. The double helix design of the stairs, leading to and from the water, still leaves modern engineers incredulous

In the heart of the Umbrian Apennines, on the slope of Mount Subasio is the medieval town of Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis and Saint Clare.
Together they founded the franciscan movement, beloved all over the world for its hospitals and missions. At the time of its construction, in the first half of the thirteenth century, Saint Francis Basilica was the finest gothic church of the country. It's colourful fresco-paintings - works by Italian masters such as Giotto, Simone Martini and Lorenzetti, are in an astounding state of conservation.
After a half day walking tour in the old town visiting the major Basilicas, we stop for a brief lunch in a local trattoria.
Our journey continues to visit the hermitage, a tiny monastery built in the forest on Saint Francis' grotto at the time of San Bernardino, and finally to the little Porziuncola chapel in the valley, the cradle of the Minor Fryers, inside the huge Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels.

This tour is a basic walking tour through the city of Arezzo, a short 58 km drive or train ride from Firenze.

Famed Italian poet Carducci wrote that Arezzo by herself was sufficient to make the whole of Italy proud of her past glory. This city and its surrounding countryside have been in fact home to incredible personalities of the past such as Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, Guido Monaco, Petrarch, Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo, and Giorgio Vasari among others.
