SEGESTA & MONREALE Full Day (maximum 7 hours)with private car or van Itinerary: We visit first the famous Cathedral of Monreale, decorated with the most beautiful Byzantine mosaics in the world. Over 70. 000sq feet of gold and figures!! The whole Basilica is covered with mosaics and hundreds of scenes depict the Old and New Testament. After a scenic drive uphill and across a beautiful countryside, we will reach Segesta. Segesta was founded by an ancient population, a mixture of people originally from Troy and Sicans born in Sicily. We will visit the beautiful Greek temple in Doric style, from the 5th Century BC, still perfectly preserved. On the way back, a little free time in Palermo before heading back to the port.
We first visit the wonderful Cathedral of Monreale; next we drive up to Segesta where we will visit the famous and intact Greek Temple from the 5th Century B. C.
