Middle Ages and Renaissance in the charming "Kalsa"quarter of Palermo.

We will start our tour from the very beautiful Gothic Catalan"Palazzo Abatetellis", a private mansion from the 15th Century. It displays several artworks, paintings and sculptures from Middle Ages, Renaissance, Mannerism and Baroque period. You will be surprised by the beauty of the famous fresco named'Triumph of Death', the bust of Eleonora d'Aragona, one of the most spectacular portrait busts from the Renaissance, sculpted by Francesco Laurana, the amazing"Annunziata"by Antonello da Messina. Afterwards, we will visit the "Steri Palace", the former Inquisition Palace on the beautiful Piazza Marina. This splendid mansion built by the Chiaramonte family in the 14th Century, became the seat of the Spanish Inquisition. Still today several graffitis left by the prisoners can be seen. On the ground floor is on display a renowned painting called"Vucciria market", due to the Sicilian Renato Guttuso. We cannot leave the Palace without seeing the Hall of Barons with its monumental medieval woooden painted ceiling.
