Arab-Norman Palermo - Half Day Walking Tour

Under the Arabs and the Normans, Palermo became one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Several monuments reflect the magnificence of two worlds: East and West. We will visit the 12th century Palatine Chapel, the Church of St. John of the Hermits and the Cathedral, that was built by the Norman Bishop Walter of the Mill, but every new ruling dynasty that conquered the island added its own unique style. I have been doing this tour for years and every time I take my clients to these three amazing monuments, their reaction is about the same: "Josie, we would never think of Palermo being such an incredible melting pot!". It is absolutely true: amazing gilded mosaics in Byzantine style, geometrical Arabic stone decorations, massive Normand's structures. This is what the Normands were able to do in this island!
