The National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN), is probably the most important museum for Roman archaeology. It was founded in the 18th century by the Bourbon king Ferdinand IV to house the astonishing collection of Roman ancient statuary he inherited from Farnese family and all the treasures from the unburied cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Actually, a large part of the collections of the Naples Museum comes from Campania area in Roman times, and especially from the town around Vesuvius. Admire the stunning collection of artifacts, paintings, close-up details mosaics, bronze statues, furnishing and the surprising household objects including precious silver accessories, fine ceramic tableware and personal ornament. Come and join me in this tour!
This is a walking tour inside the Archeological Museo of Napoli. •We will meet outside the Museum (easily reachable with Metro 1). •First, we will visit the Farnese Section, with some of the most impressive statues from Rome like the majestic marble statue called the Farnese Bull. •Then we will visit the Mosaics collection, Gabinetto Segreto (The Secret Cabinet where the erotic decoration founded in Pompeii are displayed), the section with the incredibly modern daily object from Pompeii and the Fresco Collection.
