The National archeological museum of Naples

The archeological museum is an incredible building in Naples! It's very famous because of the Vesuvian collection: here, you can learn something more about the Roman cities destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius on 79 AD. Objects, paintings, mosaics, jewels, furniture. . . you will see how they were modern and elegant, 2000 years ago! An area is dedicated to the largest house in Pompeii, the "house of the faun": the mosaics, as the "battle of Isso", is simply amazing. Close to it, there is the famous "Secret cabinet", the erotic collection: fertility was very important for them. Other sections complete the collections; Farnese collection first, with enormous statues from Rome, as the famous "Ercole Farnese"; the Egyptian collection, open to the public just a couple of years ago, with its mummies, papyrus and objects. **On Tuesday the museum is closed to the public.
