Pompeii and the path of Bacchus

Each man comes from the culture of his land, that's why each region of the world has its own food and drink. In the US people drink whiskey, in Germany beer, in Russia vodka and in Italy wine. In the region Campania we have produced and drunk wine since the Greeks arrived on our coasts about 3000 years ago. The Greek God of wine Dionysus became later the Roman God Bacchus. This aphrodisiac and nourishing nectar has ancient origins and the vineyards which grow on our volcanic land have their roots in history. The ancient city of Pompeii represents very well the Roman culture of wine. There the vineyards were cultivated close to the city, and the wine was sold in the shops and was drunk during the rich Roman parties. You will walk on the ancient Roman streets visiting the fascinating houses, theatres, and thermal baths as far as the city centre.
