Napoli has over 2700 years of history. Its city centre has had the same paths of roads for over 2 millennia! It has an incredible collection of cultural stratification, starting with the Greeks and going through 12 different dominions until the unification of Italy. Every square talks about a different time in history & domination. It's a place where we can find layers of different cultures everywhere, from its delicious street food to its traditions such as the cult for the Purgatory souls. Along its narrow alleys & countless rich churches, the presence of Greek & Roman heritage is everywhere. From the Neapolitan Crib art road, the Napoli Underground experience, Europe's oldest Opera House, the Royal Palace & the castles, there's a joyful, vibrant lifestyle present all across. Napoli uniquely combines superstition & faith, and houses the treasure of its Patron Gennaro, that is higher than that of the Royal Crown of UK. 1000 colours, 1000 worlds, 1000 things to see in the same city!
-We'll start our tour by the Greek walls in Piazza Bellini, through which we'll enter Via Tribunali, the ancient city's main street. -We'll then reach the great music conservatory, a few meters away also from the oldest bell-tower of the city. ·Next, we'll stop by the Lapis Museum and a Napoli Underground grottoes entrance of the great acqueduct, developed all around the old city. ·We'll proceed to go about 40 mt. down in a not-claustrophobic experience of the "belly of Napoli" made by the neapolitan volcanic tuff stone. -Afterwards, we'll pass by the church of Purgatory Souls and contemplate its facade. -We'll then reach the main square of the ancient city. -What follows will be the Basilica of San Lorenzo, from where we'll see the ancient roman market, besides its many different layers. -At last we'll visit the main Cathedral and the St. Gennaro Chapel. Note that as we stroll, we could stop by little stops for some food tasting if you'd like!
